Summary:
The DC Safety Manager plans and manages the general health, safety, and loss control policies and procedures of the distribution center.
This position monitors and evaluates the workplace to ensure compliance with governmental regulatory agencies and keep abreast of any changes to laws and regulations that impact the distribution center.
This position develops worker plans and policies for new employee safety orientation including skill training, emergency preparedness, proper job instruction, hazardous material disposal procedures, and the use of protective equipment.
Studies, identifies, and reports causes of past accidents and develops recommendations and follow-up to prevent accident recurrences.
This position serves as contact with all federal, state, and local regulatory agencies.
Essential Functions (Including but not limited to):
Inspects the facility to identify safety, health, and environmental risks to draft inspection reports to document inspection findings and communicates process improvement results for safety related processes.
Develops and implements inspection policies and procedures, and a schedule of routine inspections.
Develops health and safety procedures for all areas of the organization.
Prepares and schedules training to cover emergency procedures, workplace safety, and other relevant topics.
Ensures that material safety data sheets are maintained and readily accessible when needed while maintaining records of discharge of or employee exposure to hazardous waste and/or pollutants, as required.
Revises and reconfigures industrial processes to optimize safe operation, adjustment and use of production lines and auxiliary equipment.
Designs and directs safety training programs to reduce accidents, occupational illnesses, and exposure to long-term health hazards.
Develops best practices, routines, and innovative solutions to improve safety across multiple job task.
Performs process simulations and risk assessments to develop and update job safety analysis for each job classification within the distribution center as they relate to safety.
Provides process documentation and operating instructions for safety related equipment and monitors compliance with safety procedures.
Performs root cause analysis for safety related issues and events.
Manages other projects as identified and assigned toward improving safety performance.
Assists leaders and process owners with identifying corrective actions related to safety that align with the local, state and federal regulations.
Performs any other duties as assigned to support the needs of the operation.
Qualifications/Requirements:
Minimum of 5 years of related experience including process improvement within a Distribution Center environment.
Bachelor's degree in environmental safety, Occupational Safety and Health, or related field is a plus, but not required.
Lean or Six Sigma experience a plus, but not required.
Extensive knowledge of environmental regulations and policies.
Excellent technical skills and knowledge of process related standards and health and safety regulations.
Must be an analytical thinker with strong interpersonal, organizational, and administrative skills.
Proven ability to work in a fast paced, high-energy environment.
Ability to build strong internal and external business and customer relationships.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
